Babar Azam, Misbah-ul-Haq congratulate Staurt Broad on remarkable career

Pakistan cricket team’s skipper Babar Azam and chief of the Cricket Committee Misbah-ul-Haq congratulated English pacer Stuart Broad on a remarkable career as the 37-year-old played his last international match on Monday.

Broad, 37, announced on Saturday during a post-match interview at the conclusion of day three’s play that he is retiring from international cricket after the fifth Test.

The pacer also played his last international match against Australia in Ashes 2023 where he finished his career with a match-winning wicket on his last ball.

Azam took to his Twitter to appreciate the 37-year-old on his 600 Test wickets and many other achievements.

“Happy retirement, Broad! You have truly honoured our game with sheer passion and [a] thriving ability to always go hard at it. 600+ Test Wickets is quite an achievement and Cricket will always remember your services,” Babar tweeted.

On the other hand, former Pakistani captain Misbah also lauded the England international for his exceptional cricket career.

“Congratulations @StuartBroad8 on such an incredible career and an unforgettable end with the final wicket in a winning cause. Well done both @ECBcricket and @CricketAus for such an amazing,” Misbah tweeted.

Broad served England for over 15 years. He recently completed 600 Test wickets and also became the third-highest wicket-taker in Ashes history with 150 wickets, only behind Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.

The 37-year-old made his international debut in a T20 match against Pakistan at Bristol on August 28, 2006.

He has been one of the key members of the English team since his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2007.

The pacer represented England in 167 matches taking 600 wickets in his legendary Test career with his career best of 8-15 against Australia in 2015.

He did not only contribute in bowling, but the 37-year-old also scored 3,656 runs in his Test career with a career-best of 169 which came against Pakistan in 2010.

Broad, 37, also served his country in 121 ODIs and 56 T20Is and took 243 wickets in the process. His career-best figure of 5-23 in ODIs was against South Africa in 2008.
